Speakeasy alternative

The Speakeasy alternative for a server your team writes.

Speakeasy generates an MCP server from your API spec and can host it, including a gateway for employees. NitroStack is for the team that writes the tools, tries them, and hosts the server.

01

Why teams look at NitroStack

01

The tools are code, not a generated file

NitroStackYour team writes them in TypeScript or Python.

SpeakeasyThe server is generated from the OpenAPI document.

02

A person can try one call

NitroStackNitroStudio, before the server has a public URL.

SpeakeasyThe control plane is the place you manage the generated server.

03

Customers and the host are the same product

NitroStackNitroCloud is the host for the server you wrote.

SpeakeasySpeakeasy hosts the generated server and the employee gateway.

02

NitroStack and Speakeasy, side by side.

This is who the row favors. It is not a benchmark, and it does not use their published numbers as if they were ours.

Honest limits

Where Speakeasy is the better fit.

  • The spec is the source of truthIf every tool should appear because an endpoint exists, Speakeasy is built for that. Their own roundup of hosted platforms is the place to read how they describe the gateway: www.speakeasy.com/blog/best-hosted-mcp-platforms
  • Employees need one gatewaySign-in through your identity provider, team access, and a log of tool calls are the Speakeasy gateway. NitroStack does not replace that internal control plane.

Making the switch

  1. 01Keep the API. Decide whether the MCP server should be generated from the spec or written as tools.
  2. 02Scaffold the server with the NitroStack CLI, in TypeScript or Python.
  3. 03Try each tool in NitroStudio before it has a public URL.
  4. 04Deploy on NitroCloud, or send a POC request and we will tell you if it fits.

Questions

Before you move anything.

Can NitroStack generate a server from OpenAPI?

NitroStudio can scaffold tools from a Swagger URL or a Postman collection. The result is a project your team owns, not a server that stays generated on someone else’s control plane.

Is NitroStack open source?

The SDK, the CLI, and the widgets are open source. NitroStudio and NitroCloud are the products around that core. You can start locally without a credit card.

What if we are not sure it fits?

Send a POC request whether you need one or not. We will tell you if NitroStack is the right place for this server.

Run NitroStack next to what you have.

Sign up and try the server, or ask the team for a free POC. Keep the current setup until the new one is the one you want.
