Why teams look at NitroStack
01
The server is a product, not an export
NitroStackYou write the tools, try them, and host them.
StainlessThe server is generated from the spec, next to the SDKs.
02
Both languages, on purpose
NitroStackTypeScript or Python.
StainlessGeneration is the workflow. The spec decides the shape.
03
Code Mode is there when the list grows
NitroStackTurn it on when the catalog is the cost.
StainlessA generated tool per operation is the default shape.
02
NitroStack and Stainless, side by side.
This is who the row favors. It is not a benchmark, and it does not use their published numbers as if they were ours.
| NitroStack | Stainless | Favors | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you are buying | SDK, Studio, and Cloud | Generated SDKs and a generated MCP server | Even |
| Language | TypeScript and Python | Whatever the generator emits | NitroStack |
| Where the server comes from | Tool code | The API specification | Even |
| Try a call | NitroStudio | You use their hosted preview or a client | NitroStack |
| Hosting | NitroCloud, or your own host | Their managed host, or a runtime you pick | Even |
| Code Mode | Included | Not the center of the product | NitroStack |
| Open source | SDK, CLI, and widgets | A commercial generator | NitroStack |
Honest limits
Where Stainless is the better fit.
- You already generate SDKs from the specIf Stainless is how the API ships client libraries, generating the MCP server from the same spec is the consistent choice. A Speakeasy write-up compares that generator approach: www.speakeasy.com/blog/comparison-mcp-server-generators
03
Making the switch
- 01Keep the API spec for the SDKs. Write the MCP tools where the behavior is not a one-to-one endpoint.
- 02Scaffold the server with the NitroStack CLI, in TypeScript or Python.
- 03Try each tool in NitroStudio before it has a public URL.
- 04Deploy on NitroCloud, or send a POC request and we will tell you if it fits.
Questions
Before you move anything.
Should the MCP server match every endpoint?
Only when every endpoint is a tool a customer should call. A written server can expose the few operations an agent should actually use.
Is NitroStack open source?
The SDK, the CLI, and the widgets are open source. NitroStudio and NitroCloud are the products around that core. You can start locally without a credit card.
What if we are not sure it fits?
Send a POC request whether you need one or not. We will tell you if NitroStack is the right place for this server.
Run NitroStack next to what you have.
Sign up and try the server, or ask the team for a free POC. Keep the current setup until the new one is the one you want.
